A recent article on AutoGuide states that Mercedes-Benz is developing a new platform that will underpin a range of future electric vehicles.
The architecture will be the basis for vehicles with a range of wheelbases, and focusing on saving weight to coompensate for heavy electric vehicle components (aka the battery pack).
The platform is being called the 'Ecoluxe' and the architecture will provide rear wheel drive power with horsepower as high as 544 or 604 hp. As for electric range, AUtoGuide says Mercedes is targeting 279 miles range, which, incidentally, is right around Model S territory!
Launch is said to be in 2019 or 2020 in Europe, with North America following shortly after.
